Bug Report Conflict with RECentral

Hello! So I've run into a problem with OBS. It seems that it crashes my internet every single time I open RECentral for a few minutes. RECentral is my software that allows me to view and use my capture card the AverMedia Game Broadcaster HD. It's quite strange actually, because the issue isn't even just when I use them together. If RECentral is simply open while I stream with OBS, it crashes my internet over and over every minute or so. My computer is no where close to overheating and it's not particularly hard on my computer.

I don't get these issues when I stream anything else nor do I have any crashing issues with OBS in general. I tried googling around but didn't seem to find anyone with this exact issue. Does anyone know what might fix this? Also would you like some kind of log file to help? If so, where could I find that?

Only one application can use a capture device at once, you should not use both OBS and RecCentral at the same time.

I don't have OBS capturing the Capture Card as it doesn't see it. I have OBS monitor capture RECentral, however simply having both programs open at the same time is what causes the issue.

The issue is likely unrelated and caused by a poor quality router or firewall / security software.

But I can stream everything else just fine. I can also stream games with RECentral just fine with other streaming software, however I'd like to see if there is a way to use it with OBS. It only happens when I stream while that one particular program is open along side OBS.

What exactly do you mean by "crashing your internet"? Like, everything on your computer loses connection to the internet for a short time? Does this affect all devices on your network?

Like my internet will actually disconnect for roughly 10 seconds. My computer is the only one on the network that experiences any trouble during this period of time.

Well, let's back up for a second:
I don't have OBS capturing the Capture Card as it doesn't see it.
OBS should be able to see the Game Broadcaster HD. You're saying you don't see it in the drop-down list of capture devices? Are you running 32bit or 64bit OBS?

It's on the drop down list but I see roughly five of them on the window and game captures. I also see just one of the capture card on the video capture device selection, but it doesn't seem to display anything for me.

I'm using 64bit OBS on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

You should be able to add the Game Broadcaster to OBS directly. The reason it's not showing anything when you try to add it to OBS is because it is open in RECentral. It can't be open in two places at once.

Close RECentral and then try adding the device to OBS as a video capture device and see if that works.

I just tested that and got it to work! However now I can't hear the game as I play. Is there any way to make it so I could hear the game?

Open the properties of the video capture device, make sure the audio device says "Use device audio", and select "Output audio to desktop" underneath that.

I've run into another snag. Capturing through RECentral works although that causes the crashing while streaming. When I don't have RECentral on and use the video capture, I either get HDCP or if I use the component cables I just get glitchy flashing lights rather than the PS3 menu. Is there perhaps a deinterlacing option I should be selecting? That's the only thing I can think of but I'm really not sure.

Alright, this is an update on how everything is going right now.

I can get OBS to see the game by having RECentral open and showing the game and having OBS pick that up with either Window Capture or Monitor Capture, both work. However having RECentral even open while streaming with OBS regardless of if the two programs are interacting in any way will cause my internet to disconnect for 10 seconds every minute. Really odd issue.

If I don't use RECentral at all and instead have OBS pick up the capture card footage with the Video Capture Device selection, it just doesn't work. The footage I get is just flashing lights, broken textures, and sometimes different assortments of green boxes.

I know for sure that my capture card is in great shape as I've never had any issue with it using RECentral to display the footage. I also know that OBS is doing well since I can stream anything else perfectly fine as long as RECentral is not open at the same time. There must be some kind of conflict between the two programs and I haven't found any work around yet.

Just to clarify, I am not attempting to have both OBS and RECentral get the footage from the graphics card at the same time. When I use RECentral to bring up the footage, I have OBS seeing it under either Monitor Capture or Window Capture.

I feel like I might not be doing a good job of explaining the problem. Would you like me to make a video showing the exact problem? Also would knowing any specifics about my computer help? Operating system, system specs, anything like that? I want to be as easy to deal with as possible.

*Edit*

I have found a work around! If I download and use Avermedia's other bit of software for viewing your footage "AVer MediaCenter", that doesn't crash the internet when used with OBS. In fact OBS does a fantastic job at capturing it, much better than it did with RECentral's preview. So anyone in my situation, until this is solved I say just get AVer MediaCenter and use that along with OBS. Totally free.

Okay, nevermind. Problem not fixed. It just crashes as soon as you hover over the game to play now. I have absolutely no idea why.

Okay, I have a 100% for sure functioning fix now. I just went back to using an old version of OBS. I went back and grabbed OBS_0_52_07_test.zip off source forge and that works completely fine when Window Capturing Aver MediaCenter. I'm not sure why, but it does.

Moderators, Admins, do you have any idea what might have changed between now and then to cause this issue? Has anyone else reported this problem?

Not a clue to be honest. I'd have to see log comparisons of the two

Thank you.

Now, I'm not entirely sure what I should send you. Should I be showing the log of the most updated OBS attempting to show the capture card then show the older version's log of it working?
