This error (also shown in attached log file) -
Code:
Error: Could not create D3D10 device and swap chain. This error can happen for one of the following reasons:
1.) Your GPU is not supported (DirectX 10 support is required - many integrated laptop GPUs do not support DX10)
2.) You're running Windows Vista without the "Platform Update"
3.) Your video card drivers are out of date

1) DirectX 11 is installed & runs with no problems - I can't seem to get DX 10 installed, but I surmise DX 11 supercedes it.
2) Running Win7, with all updates installed.
3) Video card drivers are current & updated.

Any input appreciated - and if it doesn't work on this machine, I'll still come back some day & try it on another, because this is a great idea. Thanks, Jim & co!

Re: Win7 x32 w/DX11 & current video drivers, but OBS won't s

This is usually because your GPU does not fully support all DX10 features that OBS needs. Many integrated GPUs have this problem, like Intel HD Graphics. You will need to get a discrete graphics card to use OBS.

According to this http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Graphics-Media-Accelerator-3150.23264.0.html your gpu does support directx UP TO 9.0c. So it doesn't work with obs. Windows saying "Directx 11" doesn't really mean anything. It says it even with Directx 8 card. Directx 11 contains all the previous versions features of the Directx so ofc Windows 7 installs with Directx 11 and in your situation it only uses the Directx 9 features.

You want to stream from a tablet? Anyway, the GPU in the tablet (and just about every tablet out there) is only designed to use up to directx 9.0c - Not 10 which is required. It's not fixable by installing DX11; the hardware simply isn't designed to use it since its features are really only needed in faster desktops and laptops.

Thanks a lot for looking into it & finding out why - strange that Win claims DX11 but really only uses 'up to' DX90c (nice work on the notebookcheck site, that's cool). Cheers, and keep up the good work + helpful support!
