Transition stutter/freeze when transitioning to scene with Display source

Small freeze when transitioning from a scene WITHOUT a display source to a scene WITH a display source, e.g. going from my Window capture scene to my Display capture scene. Transitions between two scenes that either both contain OR both don't contain a display source are smooth.
No other issues from what I can tell, but it makes the transitions look more like a cut. Sucks for me because I love Move and it really messes that up. It happens regardless of the transition type, INCLUDING cut! When using cut, the entire program appears to freeze for about 1/4 to 1/2 second before cutting to the desired scene.
I tried lengthening transition duration. The duration of the freeze was the same and when it ended the sources jumped to where they would be at that point in the transition.

UPDATE: it's the entire obs window that freezes. When transitioning from a scene w/o display to a scene with, not only do the preview transitions freeze, but levels in the audio mixer freeze as well. A small test shows this freeze does NOT appear in recordings, just in the obs window. That makes is a much smaller deal than I thought it was because its purely on my end, not something that affects the end result. I still don't understand why it occurs though
