So I've been trying to figure out this issue for over a month now. I'm finally able to report what is causing it.
What is the issue?
Around 6 weeks ago I finally got tired of the Win 10 upgrade box and decided to upgrade. After fixing all driver issues and getting my PC back to how it was before the upgrade, I decided to start streaming again.
When I would launch OBS my CPU % would go to 100% and lock out there, then when I would log out of game & OBS my CPU % would still hover around 50%. So I then decided to open Task Manager and monitor what was causing this high CPU process. This was when I noticed my Sound Blaster Z process would be at 0% and my CPU % would be in the low 30s with a bunch of stuff open like Steam, a game, OBS, Chrome(2 or 4 tabs), TeamSpeak, and Spotify. It wasn't until I hit "PREVIEW" until the issue started.
After I Hit Preview Stream CPU % is still normal, it's not until I END Preview stream before the problem occurs.
While watching Sound Blaster Process the CPU usage will be at 0%, 5 to 10 seconds after ending "preview" stream the Sound Blaster Process will get stuck in an endless process leak, hook, or something. The CPU % used by the process will start ticking up, 2%, 5%, 15%, 25%, 30%, until it caps out around 35 to 40%.
How to Fix Issue?
Only two solutions have I found.
1) Never hit Preview Stream. If I just launch a stream normally the issue never happens. Even after ending a stream the Sound Blaster Z process will stay at 0%.
2) If you did hit Preview stream and the Sound Blaster Process gets hooked into a process climb, the only solution to fix it is an entire system restart.
If the OBS Devs can check on this issue I'd love to be able to preview my stream again at some point :)
Log & Pictures
I am currently at work and just remember to post about this. I can supply a log and pictures of the issue once I get home later.
Thanks
