Bug Report Software crashes games when initiating streams.

Hi Folks. I love OBS and have been using it for about a month now.
Unfortunately, OBS is causing Dark Souls to crash every time I hit my hot key to begin recording. I have not modified anything from Dark Souls or OBS. I was wondering if this may have been caused by an update or something.

He's most likely using DSfix, because no one uses dark souls without it (I wouldn't). It doesn't work with game capture particularly well (still), so if possible please set DSfix to borderless mode and use window capture instead of game capture

I have the exact same problem. Dark Souls worked perfectly a few days ago. Now when I try to start recording, it immediately crashes the game. As there was no update for OBS, Dark Souls or GFW Live, I can only guess it's because of the recent Steam Client updates?

I also use DSfix and the XInput wrapper but as said before, it worked without problems.

We had to make a game capture fix recently, but game capture never worked with DSFix before that anyway, at least as far as I knew.

I was able to stream game capture yesterday but today I can't. Before all I had to do was disable steam overlay to get it to work. Now the only way I can is to play windowed and stream the monitor. This drops my frame rate so low the game isn't really playable however. Is there any way we can revert out version to before this "fix" happened?

edit

Was able to get it working by switching the game to windowed and using DWM Monitor capture like Krazy suggested. Thanks for the tip.

Use Window Capture with Aero enabled, it should be nearly as good performance wise as Game Capture. Alternatively, use Game Capture on "[DWM]: Monitor Capture"

Yeah, I only had to disable Steam overlay to make it work (when it did work).

That was the patch recently? I had the problem appearing before I installed the patch. As I said, the only update I installed between it working and it not working was a Steam client update.
