semi newbie can't get webcam working

Last year I started experimenting with OBS. With some difficulty I figure out how to do the basics. Then last October, my wife passed and I got busy with surviving that problem and since then have done little on my Dell PC including no OBS. Just trying to re-familiarize myself with video work- I got Zoom working OK. My webcam is a 1080p Pro Stream. But, when I just loaded OBS and downloaded the updated version- I can't get OBS to see my webcam. I see that I still have some scenes I created last year using the webcam- and back then, it did work. Now, the camera just won't turn on. It has lights on it to let me know when it turns on. With Zoom, it just turns on when I start Zoom- or, at least when I click on the Record button and then I see myself. I recall a year ago when I started playing with OBS I suggested there is a need for a OBS For Dummies book. It's not obvious how to use the program. I have read what docs I see on the web site. I'm obviously doing something stupid. Any help would be appreciated. Forgive this geezer who is now 75! I'm not a neophyte regarding computers, use of lots of software, video files (have used many video cameras), etc. But for some reason, OBS is not easy for me to grasp.

Na, not stupid, just not intuitive. Took me a while, and IT infrastructure is my thing.
Your Operating System presumably has had updates, and you changed OBS Studio... so, beware assumptions
This wasn't a thing many years ago (and ended up being a problem with hackers)... so nowadays not uncommon to have to enable access to webcam and microphones to applications. That is the first thing to check.

If you are the type that prefers reading, vs watching videos, these guides might help https://streamgeeks.us/ Online Resources
Also, if/when following up, don't ignore the pinned post in this forum about posting your OBS Studio log from a session (that includes attempting to Record and/or stream, as applies to you)... link in my .sig
