Question / Help QuickSync

I've recently purchased a 4770k... I'm not familiar with quick sync... and I guess I'm just wondering if this new quick sync feature the same as the quick sync that is new in the 4th gen intel cpus...

If so, should I enable? Further, what will this do for me?

Yes, that is the quicksync that is being referred to. It is also available on Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge CPUs.

It lets you encode using the hardware video encoder on the integrated GPU, taking almost all the encoding load off your CPU. It makes your computer run a lot better while encoding, at the cost of less customizability and somewhat lower video quality than veryfast encoding with x264.

First download drivers for Intel HD Graphics 4600 and make sure iGPU is enabled in BIOS. Then connect a secondary screen to the iGPU or if you don't have one go to the: Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display\Screen Resolution and hit detect and click one of the detected "Another display not detected" (make sure it's Intel HD Graphics 4600). Then choose from the "Multiple displays" dropdown menu: Try to connect anyway on: VGA. Now you have quicksync ready for use.

Thanks for the speedy replies.

I followed the steps to get things running (driver, display settings)...
I enabled quicksync and when I try to stream, the game source will work for maybe 2 seconds, then OBS crashes.
This happens when I preview the stream as well. I have made sure that my drivers are updated for the HD 4600 Graphics and made sure that the intel GPU was enabled on BIOS. From what I've read on some brief google searches, this seems to be an issue for others as well.

Any input? Thanks.

Well, did you try getting rid of monitors like it said?

i think he only has the one secondary display or the "virtual" one. Which is required to get iGPU active (Atleast on Ivy Bridge. If Haswell's HD 4600 is always active(?) it's not required).
