Bug Report Only part of the screen is captured [BioShock 2]

Hello,

I installed BioShock 2 few days ago and I decided to stream it, however only part of the screen is captured when using Game Capture. Game runs in dx10, so that might be the problem. I tried it in dx9 mode and game capture works fine, however I want to play in dx10 :) Window Capture while playing in windowed dx10 mode works also fine, so only game capture in dx10 has a problem.

Here is the screenshot: http://www.imagebanana.com/view/kfiyi9xs/BioShock2.jpg

I of course tried that immediately I saw it happening, otherwise I would not write here. Sadly, that does not work. As I said, it works in dx9 (OBS captures full screen), but not in dx10 (OBS captures part of the screen and "fit to screen" does nothing in this case).

Do you use the same Game Capture source for dx9 and dx10 or do you create 2 different source to try each version. (or do you use the keybind to game capture?)

I have tried 2 separate game captures to try each version and to use keybind as well. It still does the same thing - captures only part of the screen :/ Its the only game I have been experiencing this problem with.

I have this same issue. And yet nobody has fixed it yet. This is also the only post about this I've managed to find in google/on multiple sites. I hate bringing up an old post, but can someone help out? I've tried every option available in OBS to fix it, I'm thinking its a problem with the way the game is made itself.

It hasn't been fixed because I still don't understand exactly why it's happening, haven't been able to reproduce as of yet, and thus haven't been able to. And it's quite alright that you bumped this, probably better that you did. I *do* want to figure out what's going on, but my focus is spread thin right now.

Hey Jim, I'm pretty sure this may be a glitch. When I downloaded this a few weeks ago I had the same issue. After I got a nasty rootkit and reinstalled windows I wanted to get my data back and installed this yesterday and it worked properly. Today it went back to the same issue of only displaying part of the screen. Coincidentally as I was typing this the screen is now stuck on black...

I think I fixed this issue despite me saying I had issues just moments ago, I decided to mess around with OBS, what you do is:
1) go to the scene you are having issues with
2) go to the source
3) right click an go to properties
4) check sub region and change size to your screen size (if you click properties again the subregion will have reverted back to the way it was before you made changes but the display should be fine)

-for example the sub-region on mine was 1536 by 832 so I changed it to 1920 by 1080 and my issue was resolved. However, after I closed properties and reopened it, the subregion unchecked itself and reverted back to 1536 by 832 with my newly fixed display still displaying properly after having changed it to 1920 by 1080 the first time-

I will try to make a video to show the issue and how I fixed it, once i find out how to. When I do, I'll link it in another message. I hope I was of some help
EDIT: video link http://youtu.be/D2UcwS26se4 I do apologize for sounding a bit awkward in it

Hi,

The issue seems to be that it defaults to a sub region of my monitor (when I don't have sub-region selected) to fix this, as moses mentioned, I have to _select_ subregion, and then set the subregion to be my entire monitor size. (ie. 1920x1080 as a subregion fixes this) by default _no subregion_ is ACTUALLY a subregion of 2/3 my monitor size.

Hope this helps - experienced this today (Jul 12 2015) with the latest version installed.

Basically OBS seems to detect the wrong size for 'full screen' window capture.
