I have a Samson C01U mic I use for streaming that runs off of the Windows Audio drivers. I have it set in my control panel to 45% volume but the moment I start up OBS, it changes the microphone's volume in Windows to 100%. This makes the microphone pick up a lot of background noise and you would think "oh, just turn the volume back down then". Well, the problem with that is that when I turn the volume back down to where it was before, the mic is extremely quiet.
i.e. At the same volume, the microphone pre-opening OBS picks up sound just fine but once the microphone volume is changed back to that same level after opening OBS, it's very quiet.
I think this may have to do with OBS changing something with the Windows Audio drivers. When I uninstall the Windows Audio drivers for the microphone and reinstall them, the mic works fine again.
Another thing is that IIRC, OBS does audio in stereo only but my microphone records in mono. I'm not sure if this is what is causing the problem though. If it is, couldn't OBS just take the mono mic signal and mix it into the two stereo channels?
