Bug Report OBS couldn't create directory ...\Application Data\OBS

Hi all,

I wanted to give this streaming a try, but OBS only starts the first time I try to start it. If I close it, and try to start it again, it gives the following error:

Couldn't create directory 'C:\Users\Gebruiker\Application Data\OBS'

Gebruiker is User in Dutch, so that's what that means.

The thing that is happening is, OBS on first startup creates a folder in AppData\Roaming called OBS, to which it cannot write. Because the crash starts before OBS has started, I don't have a crash log.

I am running it on 64 bit, Windows 7.

A quick search on this forum didn't yield any results, nor did googling.
I would love to give you more details, but I don't know where to start. I will anser your further questions though. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

I actually do not know why this would occur. It's happened to one or two other people in the past, and I have no idea why this would be happening. I don't know why but either the directory is write only or you do not have permissions to write to that directory. Try running OBS as admin -- if that fails, then I unfortunately think that something is amiss with your windows configuration.

Thanks for your reply. I had a feeling it might be my windows. Will tinker around with my configuration a bit more.

I realize this is old but I came across it while trying to install OBS and wanted to give new people who visit an answer.

If you go to the location it says it can't create there should be a broken OBS folder there. Delete that if so. Then create your own OBS folder and inside that make a profiles folder.

VOILA It works now!
