Bug Report OBS causes game/computer crashes.

I've been trying to use OBS lately, because as I've gotten used to it I've started to prefer it over x-split. Only problem is, it causes game crashes 1-2 times a day. Moreover, last time I used it, it crashed my mouse driver and made me force a system restart, I couldn't use my mouse at all.

I believe this is the right log:

My CPU is clocked at 3.6Ghz over the listed 3.1. But it's stable otherwise, this is the only program that gives me problems.

I ran it for about an hour to an hour and a half while I ran into town and picked some things up. Something which confused me was - I came back and my computer was in sleep mode. I figured you may have been right and it shut down or something, but when I turned it back on, the test was still running fine.

Code:
[Fri Feb 08 11:41:15 2013]
Self-test 448K passed!
Self-test 448K passed!
Self-test 448K passed!
Self-test 448K passed!
[Fri Feb 08 12:09:16 2013]
Self-test 8K passed!
Self-test 8K passed!
Self-test 8K passed!
Self-test 8K passed!

This was in a notepad file on my desktop as well. I was gone much longer than the half hour that the tests were apparently running, I assume that's when my computer went to sleep but that's strange because I thought they wouldn't sleep when they're doing something? Every night I watch netflix and it never goes into sleep mode even after netflix stops playing.

Since OBS is a usermode program, it cannot cause the behavior you describe. This sounds like a hardware or driver problem.

Maybe it was just the monitor that turned off? But the test looks good, that shouldn't be the issue.

No the monitor remained on, the programs would just crash and freeze. I could see everything on both monitors, but either the game, OBS, or both would freeze and have to be restarted. It only happens when using OBS. Everything works fine with x-split, but as I've said I've come to prefer OBS since I got used to it.

As for the mouse problem, it didn't deactivate my mouse completely. It would still move around, but it would stutter extremely bad and I couldn't click on anything. If I clicked more than one time (ex. spam clicking) my computer would beep after every click. The only thing that resolved it was hard-restarting my computer, and after that it worked fine again.

Ah yes, the beeping. I've seen it happen to very popular streamers using XSplit.
I don't think this is an OBS issue, even XSplit has problems getting this fixed and they are paid to do it.

Could it maybe be a problem with my power supply or motherboard? I remember having this problem one other time a loooong time ago when I first got my 670, I was trying to stream SC2 with x-split back then and it happened. I plan on getting a new motherboard and a 3770k processor here very soon, I believe my power supply is either 500 or 600w. Should I upgrade that as well?

On a side note -- trying another prime95 run. This time I've got HWMonitor running logs to keep track of my temperatures/wattages and whatnot as well and I'm in the house this time so my computer shouldn't go back to sleep again. I'll post logs from both programs here in about an hour or so I've got a little bit of housework to do yet.

The power supply should be good, if it can deliver what it's label promises.
I also have a 3770k and a gtx670, both overclocked and no problems with my 550W power supply.

Alright yeah I just shut it off, went through 448k, 8k, 512k, and 12k just fine. Temperatures never exceeded 46c on 2 cores, 50c on the other two. I guess the only thing that I can think of right now that would still cause this problem is my old ass motherboard. I've got a really old MSI P67 board that cost like $70 a few years ago lol. Oh well, I guess I'll just deal with it for now. Hopefully once I get my AsRock Z77 and 3770k the problem will solve itself, otherwise I don't know what else I'll do.
