First of all as a newbie regards to all here...

I am having some problems and let me try to try to tell this:

I am using OBS on my Windows 7 workstation and also on my Macintosh

I have a HD50 JVC recording-player deck (720p)
Also using for live stream the VLC player
In windows my JVC deck is not on the list
In Mac it is
Also with VLC and my JVC deck I have no sound in monitoring or at the live stream/record

I have the latest version so maybe someone could give me a idea how to make the sound work
My Lumix GH4 is working with sound, but playback from any other device is without sound.

And strange that my JVC HD50 works and is listed in Mac but on Windows not.

Thanks in advance

How are you verifying there is sound? You won't hear anything by default unless you explicitly enable audio monitoring from the Edit -> Advanced Audio Properties menu.

If you make a sample recording and play it back in a proper video player like VLC, does it have sound?

Also, please provide a log so we can see if anything looks out of sorts.

I have open the settings mow there is something strange there:
Sample rate 48
Channels Stereo
Desktop Audio Device Disabled
Desktop Audio device2 Disabled
I can enable those 2, why is that?
On channel Mic/Auxiliary Audio device 3 I can see a green volume meter that moves while VLC is playing the video but no sound...
What can be wrong?

Also, check that you set the audio monitoring device to the right device in Settings -> Advance

Fenit hello yes I checked and double checked those settings....Ok I am using audioloop now and it works, strange that so many people here have problem with the audio, so problem, for now, solved, maybe in some updated version to make it work without a extra payment of audioloops...

It's easy to miss the big picture, because this is primarily a support forum. The only people posting here are the ones having issues, but you don't see the hundreds of thousands of people using the software just fine with no problems.

well lol i have issues so sorry for asking help...and to miss the BIG picture..read my topic please also the difference between win and mac.
I love open software and have been involved with many projects, for your info :)
I was just wondering why I can't get sound without a 3rd party software..
Before I asked this question be sure I was spending 3 days in reading about this...so my picture is big..
Again thanks for the help but please respect any one with a question as I do also..thanks for understanding, regards, Peter

Windows has no major issues with audio capture. If you can provide a log from Windows, I'm happy to take a look and see what might be going on. It might be a language barrier, but I'm having a hard time following exactly what the issue is here.

Some questions ahead of time:
- What is the interface the JVC connected to? Firewire? USB? Analog?
- Are there drivers provided for the device? If so, have you verified they are installed correctly on Windows?
- Does the JVC device show up in the Windows sound control panel? OBS can only capture a device if it is present there. If it is not there, that means there are missing drivers, or the device is not fully windows compatible.
- What output does the device provide? If it's ASIO, OBS does not yet support ASIO interfaces.
