Question / Help I don't even know where to start...

Hello all. About a month ago, I downloaded the classic version of OBS Studio. I was excited to record "Insurgency" gameplay for my YouTube channel, but I can't seem to record anything and there appear to be a few things wrong with how I am using it.

For starters, I am using a Dell Inspiron 15R laptop. It is completely stock with no upgrades or anything like that. Its not exactly designed for gaming and much less for recording gameplay. But, I can tolerate poor graphics as long as I have some gameplay to upload to my channel.

Secondly, whenever I try to do a "Game Capture" under sources, I don't seem to be able to record anything. I made sure to start up the Insurgency game first via Steam and then select Insurgency from the possible sources, but it does not seem to work.

Thirdly, when using "Monitor Capture" I am able to record things not having to with gameplay. I can search the web and type stuff in Microsoft word and it will be visible both in the recording and preview. When I try to record gameplay, I only get a black screen or a still image of whatever part of the game I was looking at last (if that makes sense).

EDIT: And whenever I do use Monitor Capture, the preview and recording would show a smaller version of what I should be recording against a black background. I have to click and drag the image to get it to fill the screen.

Please note, I am not too computer savvy. Just tell me in layman's terms what I can do to resolve my problems. If you need more details just let me know. Also, I would like to know if the problem is just my laptop. Thank you all.
