Question / Help Game Capture / GTA:SA / Window not found

So I've been using OBS a couple of times with GTA:SA and it worked fine, I just had to run OBS with Admin privileges in Windows 7 for it to show up. But suddenly it just stopped working. I always says it can't find the window and just shows a black area where the game is supposed to be. I tried readding the source, reinstalling OBS, removing all settings, restarting the PC, running OBS or GTA:SA in various compatibility modes. I also tried a Test version of OBS.

I can't figure out what might have changed that caused this. I only did the normal stuff like installing Windows Updates and such and deinstalled some .NET Framework that apparently was needed by the Catalyst Control Panel, but that seems to work again now. I only updated the Graphics Driver after it stopped working, but I'm not sure if that would even influence it.

Running GTA:SA in windowed mode is apparently possible, but that is said to cause some problems and I don't really want to mod my game. I guess I could buy Dxtory to capture the game, but since it worked before, that seems a bit silly.

Would be nice if someone could help. :)

Pretty sure san andreas is a directx 8 game normally (though might be directx 9 on steam), and directx 8 is still unsupported for game capture

Then how did it work before? The point is that it worked with Game Capture, but stopped working when I tried it again later. I use the original retail version (should be 1.0), which is reported to work in another Thread.

Hm, not sure then, I know that there's a DX8 and DX9 version of the game, and game capture doesn't support DX8 so that was just my first assumption; that may not have actually been what is happening for you though, but I can definitely see that it isn't "acknowledging" any capture from the app at all
