On 31.0.4, CQP, CBR, and VBR have constantly grainy output even at higher values, like CQP 20. Looks like a 70% jpg on a static scene.
CBR QP is working though, as QP 51 looks way worse overall than QP 20, with bitrates to match.
I got 31.1.0 today. Those three options still produce the same grainy look. But the new QVBR looks a lot better. No obvious graininess, just minimal compression.
Problem is, changing the quality options with that doesn't do anything to the quality. And the bitrate immediately skyrockets to 1000+ Mbps when trying to capture gameplay at 1440p 60 FPS. QP 20 and 51 look the same. Bitrate 2500 and 50000 look the same. Both options go up to 1000+ Mbps.
FFmpeg VAAPI HEVC options still work exactly as expected, at least.
