Can't capture UWP/Windows Store apps

I'm running OBS 26.0.0 on Windows 10 (although the same problem happened on 25.x.x as well), and I can't seem to capture Windows Store/UWP apps. (I'd like to capture Paint 3D, but at the moment I can't get any UWP app to work). I have a default installation in Program Files, and I've tried both changing permissions on the obs-studio folder and tweaking the settings in the window capture properties. (None of the options work except for BitBlt, which gives me a resizable black box). It seems like none of these settings are working, and none of the solutions I've tried have worked. The log file didn't seem to shed any light on this either.

Any suggestions?

I'm having the same issue (trying to capture a Windows timer - "Alarms & Clocks" app).
Weirdly the timer window only shows up in the window capture menu as "[Winstore.App.exe]: Microsoft Store".
OBS Version 26.0.2 (64 bit). Just shows black rectangle on BitBlt capture, and nothing on Automatic or Windows Graphics Capture. Have resorted to display capture, but this is problematic for accidentally overlaying something else on the window.
I heard that this was a problem with v25 but had been resolved for some people in v26. I still have issues with OneNote. Any progress from anyone on this?

Microsoft doesn't play ball with open source software. I tried everything and ultimately failed to capture OneNote reliably. I guess the alternative is to just find an alternative. Unless OBS Studio gets updated in such a way to communicate with each and every eco system app systems - which isn't likely.

Here comes a solution, steps are as following:
requirement:
  • A PC with hotspot
  • an old phone;
steps:
  1. Download some apps which could expand your monitor, like spacedesk
  2. Finish the setup in your monitor app, and ready to connect
  3. Drag the window of UWP app to the second monitor, here use OneNote For Microsoft 10 as a example
  4. Start OBS, add source from second monitor, then finished.
posible problem:
- if the display in your phone shows the same content as your primary monitor, you probably need to change the display in:
System > DIsplay > Extend this monitor
