Hello everyone, I come to you with a plea for help!
Background:
I'm trying to set up my OBS in Linux for the first time and cannot reliably connect my camera to OBS (or maybe even my PC?). I have previously used OBS on windows, but only the bare minimum to get a stream running on Twitch - I'm an absolute OBS noob honestly. I also have no past experience with Linux and also am not a developer or very good at troubleshooting :(
Issue:
Although OBS currently DOES recognize my camera as a source option, the main issues I'm trying to solve for are:
1. When it does connect to OBS, there is a pretty bad lag that appears
2. When I disable the camera source in OBS and then re enable it immediatly after, the camera freezes. After this, it won't work again until I have disconnected the camera from the USB port (usb 3)
Lag issue:
I THINK that the lag may be related to my second monitor, as I did the following steps and it seemed to have fixed itself (for now):
- Closed OBS
- Disconnected second monitor
- Disconnected camera at USB port
- Reconnected camera at USB port
- Opened OBS with camera source active/enabled
- Lag seems to have gone
Log:
The log shows the process of me adding a working camera source, disabling it and then enabling it (which is where the freezing issue happens)
Specs
Camera: Sony ZV-E10
Connection: Via Elgato Camlink 4k (HDMI -> USB)
Linux distro: Fedora Linux 42 (Using KDE Plasma v6.4.2)
OBS version: 31.0.3 (64 bit)
I think this might be one of the first times I've asked for help in a forum before, so please let me know if there is any other information that you might need! :)
