Bug Report Audio is choppy while broadcasting

Hello everyone !

I'm using OBS since few months ago and I have a problem. A problem that keeps going on and on and on. I don't know why. The first problem what a progressive delay (the audio became more and more unsync with the video). But I've learn it's because of the USB sound card I was using. Without it, the sound is ok... well, from what I've seen.

Now it's a new problem. While I'm playing Brutal Doom (a mod ran with Gzdoom for Doom 1 and 2 - and yes, I've tried playing with and without 3D accelerator application, playing in Software / OpenGL), the audio of my broadcasting is getting chopped. Litteraly chopped. I'm broadcasting on twitch.tv and you can clearly see the sound getting cut every 2s. I don't understand. I've tried lowering the FPS limit (down to 10), lowering the audio / video quality, changing presets (for ultrafast by exemple), and so on. Nothing works. It keeps chopping. The video is perfect, I can go up to 60 fps without problem. But the audio, no matter what, keeps chopping. When with the USB sound card. Something's really funny too. When I broadcast with ANOTHER application (FFsplit for example), the sound is perfect, no chopping ! Only OBS can't broadcast without chopping the sound.

Small update : I uninstalled everything, deleting all of my configuration files. I installed it from the very beginning, reconfiguring everything from the start. Now it's working flawlessly. I don't understand why. Maybe there was an old configuration file that was linked with the streaming ? Who knows. Now it's working. Very strange nonetheless.

Hm, interesting, I wish I had got to the thread sooner to figure out what was going on, though it seems you already fixed it yourself. If you figure out what specifically was the cause, please let me know if possible.

Ah ! I understand now why ! Since my processor is an "old" i7 920 (first generation), it tends to overclock / downclock by itself. I have an application by ASUS called "EPU-6" that can change the CPU behavior (which is normaly "automatic"). If I don't put it on high speed (max performance), it tends to "jump" by itself because Doom is not demanding but OBS is. So what happens is that there's flickering in the audio.

It happens all the time when I'm viewing blu-ray movies on VLC. If I don't set my CPU behavior at max performance, it chops. Why ? Because the CPU voltage / frequency is not fixed, it keeps moving depending on the demand : most tasks requires more voltage, less tasks less voltage.

So there you have it ! The problem comes from my CPU, not the application (even if it's interesting to know that other applications don't act like that).
