I'm recording video in Minecraft and I'm have a issue. OBS is picking up my audio from my mic just fine but it it not picking up the in game sounds. So when I check my video after I save it you can't here any of the game sound, but my voice is picked up just fine. How can I fix this? Can you help me?

I am actually having an issue close to this. When I am playing the game I can hear the in game sounds but no one I am streaming to can hear anything but my voice. When I do straight recording to my PC, it's the same issue on playback. No audio in game sound. Here is my log file for this:

https://gist.github.com/eaf449774e7d5c0d969c

So I tweaked my audio setting, removed my headset, and set my speakers to default audio in my PC and OBS to see if just playing sound through my speaker and recording the speaker sound, not headset sound, would be the issue. When I change the Audio settings to my speakers I get an error message: Error: Cannot initialize desktop audio sound, more info in the log file.

When I analyze that code, I get this:
----
No sources found
You do not appear to have added any sources to your scenes which will result in black output from OBS. Please read the help file or use one of the getting started guides from the guides forum for help setting up OBS.

But my scene is set to display my monitor, which is on. I am completely stumped.

Any ideas on how we can get our in game audio to work?

Thanks a bunch!

What audio device are you using right now? That error is unfortunately very vague, I have no idea why that's occurring.

It's the same thing for me. I have no game sounds but my voice comes through just fine. I am using a head set with mic. My mic is picking up my voice without a problem. I have my scene set up to pick up my mic. I tried adding another scene to pick up game audio but it doesn't have the option. I'm playing on two screens, my game on monitor 2 and OBS on monitor 1. Obs is set up to pick up monitor 2 and my head set. What extra setting to I need to put in to pick up my game sounds?

Make sure you have "Use Input device for desktop audio" unchecked in Settings -> Audio and select the correct "Desktop Audio Device" just above that (usually "Default" should be fine)

If that doesn't help we would still like to see your log file (viewtopic.php?f=5&t=7144)

I got it! I had the Microphone device set to my head set which cause the game sounds to go mute. I put both audio settings to default settings and they work fine now. Thanks for the help guys.

Both of my audio settings are currently set to default. When I don't have my headphones in, I get that error message - Error: Cannot initialize desktop audio sound, more info in the log file. This is very frustrating considering it must be something I am over looking.

Here's my current setup-
Headphones: Skullcandy Playr 2
Speakers: Logitech
Audio settings:
Desktop audio Device - Default
Microphone/ AUX audio device - Default
Force Microphone to Mono - Unchecked
Show only connected devices - Checked
Push to talk - Disabled
No hot keys for talking or for desktop sound
Desktop Boost - 1
Mic Boost - 1
Mic Time offset - 0

My PC Sound settings have my headphones set to default. When I change my speakers to default I get that said error message.

In my Sources I only have:
Monitor recording and Game Capture. Tried all combinations of running them both or just one at a time.
I shouldn't need a Video capture device or a sound card correct?

Thanks for all the help so far.

Sorry my post was addressed at Jspeaks, I should have made that more clear, even though he is the original poster of this thread.

I unfortunately don't know what to do about the "Cannot initialize desktop audio sound" error, but I'll let you know if I can come up with an idea to fix it. Sorry about any inconvenience I might have caused.

copper5legend - I do hope you do not have the "use input device for desktop audio" in advanced settings. If it's on, turn it off. If it was already unchecked, then please create a new thread about it.

(Also, next time I would also recommend creating a new thread when you have an issue of your own if you can, because posting in someone else's thread distracts from that person's problem and makes it difficult for us to be able to know if there's a new person with their own problem when we're browsing the forum)

Hi there, I just started using this programme yesterday, and I have recorded a few video gameplays with my friends and saved as mp4. file. However, when I send the recorded video file to one of my friend, they told me that there are no audio output given out from the video clip, problems occur repeatly when I recorded few more video, since there are no problem happened in my PC.

Is it my setting problem or his PCs? im operating win 10 with I7-6700K, GPU: GTX-1070 while he is using win 7. thanks
