Question / Help Aspect ratio problems.

This might come off as a stupid question, but since I am new to this streaming experience, there are just things I don't entirely understand so far. Still learning.

The problem I am having is in regards to aspect ratio. Whenever I am streaming, I notice these black bars on each side of my stream.

My monitor runs at 1680x1050 resolution, which is also my base resolution. Furthermore I've had to downscale my stream to 1344x840 via the OBS downscale resolution option.

Previewing my stream in OBS, everything seems to be fine. However this is not the case on my Twitch page.

What do I do? :)

The Twitch player, when not fullscreen, is always 16:9, so if you don't stream at a 16:9 resolution, then Twitch will show black bars.

So if I were to stream in 16:9 720p I would have to set my base resolution to 1280x720?

But then that would cause black bars for you on the preview window. Unless you want to be that guy that breaks aspect ratio and streams a skewed/squished image

Really, though, it's a minor concern that people put way too much emphasis on.
