Is there a significant difference between the 64/32bit versions of obs? Also why is there no option in the settings to use 64bit by default, you have to manually go into the files to find the 64bit version?

When you want to use the 64-bit version you can just make a shortcut on your desktop.

I personally don't know if there are differences between the two versions.

The 64bit version will give you a small improvement in x264 performance, but not all directshow devices work with it. I would start off using the 64bit version unless you can't add a particular video capture device to it, then try the 32bit version.
