I have a problem when I stream with my default resolution (1680x1050) I get these nasty black bars on the sides of the stream

And I don't really know what to do about them, been looking around on the forums, but I didn't find anything that really helped.

Just wondering if there is a specific thing or resolution I can try out to fix this problem.

Nothing you can do about it. Despite knowing the stream size, twitch forces viewers to use a 16:9 aspect ratio player.

Technically they don't force you since its editable clientside, but they don't exactly make it readily available.

Which is strange considering how easy it really is to change the player size.

First of all, I think that I MAY have found a viable solution to this. I have not tested this, but in the current 2014 version of OBS, it should work. As I have tested this by pressing "Preview Stream". All I did was when creating a new SOURCE, do what you normally do. This time, when you are selecting the source, make sure "Ignore aspect ratio" and "Stretch Image to Screen" are both TICKED.

I hope this helps. Although this is quite an old thread lololol

Unfortunately distorting your stream isn't really a very good solution. The only way to avoid this is to capture and stream at a 16:9 resolution.

I see what you're saying, but when I tested this (A few minutes ago) and watched it on Twitch, it turned out just the way I wanted it.... I couldn't really see any distortion at all =/. Also, my monitor is 1680x1050 (16:10) and it doesnt work too well on Twitch. Even when I downsize it 1.25, or 1.5. I try to use a 1600x900, and downsize it by 1.25 or 1.5, but that doesn't turn out too well on stream either.... (The edges on all sides are cut off =/)

Whether or not you notice it, ignoring aspect ratio will always ruin the image quality in a significant way. When's the last time you watched a movie that filled your entire screen?
